how to take a shallow depth of field picture using a SLR rebel 2000 eos camera? what mode should i use?
I need to take a picture that is shallow depth of Field for my assignment i own a rebel 2000 eos camera i'm not sure if i should use the portrait mode (indicated by a figure of a head) or the close up mode which is (indicated by a flower)
I am very much aware of your camera's Portrait or Close-up mode... choose which ever is higher focul length. For example, look throuigh the view finder, and aim at an object - and view through both the modes - in whichever mode, the object looks bigger, has a higher focal length.
Having decided that, put the aperture at f/2.8 or f/3.5 - don't use a higher aperture. The higher the aperture, the smaller the hole and more depth of field.
At 2.8 You should have from 4 ft to 6 ft in focus. Finalise the setting by trial and error.
