What is a good, inexpensive, medium format camera?
i already own a holga, but i was looking for something a bit more "Professional" as in,
aperture control,
shutter speed,
and SLR or TLR instead of rangefinder view.
i'm a student so i tend to be very poor, so i'm looking for something in the $0-$50 range.
any suggestions?
no, i don't mean 35mm. i already own an olympus OM-1 for that. i am looking for a 120 format camera. with a SLR or TLR
I posted an answer on your other question
You might want to think about posting this question on the "Classic Cameras" forum on Photo.net. You have to register to post topics in the forums, but it's free. There are a lot of very friendly, knowledgeable people there who could help you. That was where I learned how to develop film! They have also been a huge help with answering my questions about my vintage cameras.

Like with your other question, I would recommend a Yashica A. It has completely manual aperture and shutter speed controls. It's a very nice, solid, all-metal camera. And it has great optics...I'm always amazed at the pictures I can take with it. It takes very sharp, detailed pictures. A million times sharper than what you can get with your Holga camera! (Actually, pretty much any decent camera will take better pictures than a lomography camera! The Holga has a plastic lens!)
MixedMojo was completely wrong...you can definitely find a TLR in good condition for around $50 or $60, if you look hard enough. There is nothing wrong with eBay. I bought my Yashica A camera on eBay for about $65, and it works perfectly. In fact, I bought almost all my cameras on eBay, and they all work fine. Just read the description carefully, and check to be sure that the seller has a high feedback rating. But I have not had any problems at all on eBay. So that is one place to look. You can also try antique shops and camera shops, but medium format cameras are getting really popular right now for some reason, and even vintage cameras tend to be WAYoverpriced in camera shops. I went to one used camera shop, and they wanted $300 for a Yashica A! I looked on eBay, and I ened up finding one in even better condition for $65.
Here is my Yashica A camera. It's in great condition, and I use it all the time for my landscape photos:

And here is a picture I took with the Yashica A. This will at least give you an idea of how sharp it is. (And the actual print is a lot better than the scan). I took this with black and white film. I developed the film myself.

Whatever TLR camera you decide to get, be sure it takes 120 film. There are some TLR's that used 626 film. 626 is basically the same as 120 film, except that the spools are a little different size. You would have to either re-spool 120 yourself...or you can also buy re-spooled film, but it's expensive. It's much easier just to get a camera that uses 120 film. (The Yashica A uses 120 film). You can easily order 120 film online, and most good camera shops will sell it too.
If you really like medium format film cameras, you might also want to think about getting a folding camera, like a Zeiss Ikon Nettar. But they tend to be more valuable to collectors, and they can sell for higher prices.
